After the Rain – A Samurai Era Call of Cthulhu Scenario
The small farming village of Kamatsoe has chafed under the yoke of a bandit gang for years, dutifully giving over a portion of their harvest in return for the bandit’s “protection.” The burning of a nearby village was the last straw, however, and the farmers have chosen to fight back by recruiting a small band of wandering samurai to liberate them from these bandits.
After the Rain is a scenario for up to six players and designed to run in about 6 hours inspired by the works of Akira Kurosawa, primarily Seven Samurai. The scenario is set during the early years of the Sengoku Jidai, the “Warring States” era, of Japanese history. Included in the scenario are the background history of the area surrounding the farming village of Kamatsoe, a timeline of the scenario events, detailed location descriptions, six pre-generated characters, and player handouts.
This is not a standalone product, the use of Chaosium’s Seventh edition Call of Cthulhu Keeper Rulebook and the Investigator’s Handbook is recommended.
Content Warning: After the Rain is set during a violent era of history and contains depictions of violence, religious imagery, and body horror.
