Gametouch Controller Star Citizen

Gametouch Controller Star Citizen

I have been looking for a new tablet controller for Star Citizen and Gametouch Controller seems to be perfect.

Over the years I have tried almost all of them, Game glass, Touch portal, Hardware solutions like the Elgato Stream deck and so many others.

Gametouch Controller seems to have got it almost perfect and are working on improvements and upgrades, it also supports more than one device but you only have to pay one low purchase.

It gets even better as the developer Grant Draper  is a Star Citizen fan and even learned to program to create this solution.

I am sold it excellent, simple to setup and customise and most importantly it works very fast as a the Server software runs on your local pc so no nasty cloud services.

 Here is the feature reel.

Community Feedback. – I need to update this, there has been so much positive feedback.

“I was a bit skeptical, but trust me, Game Touch Controller is sick. Seriously. Not even sponsored or anything. I just set it up and it’s genuinely miles ahead of GameGlass for real-world functionality. ” – XeroState

“Autoconnection with my android was rapid and honestly that is a real cool app for SC.”

“This is way better than -Something Else-“ changed from specifics to -Something Else- by developer-“

“I tested the app for the first time on my iPad. It worked great. I really like it. “

“your app is sooooo much more responsive.”

“One cool bonus as an IT Guy: it’s all local. No cloud reliance. No data levels the network. Just your tablet(s) and your PC.

Works wonderfully and is woefully undervalued”

“Such an amazing app love using it in my gameplay. Only had it q couple days but it changes the experience 100 fold.”

“As a user of this app– it reallllly adds to immersion on top of making quick access to constantly used features. Love it! “

“This is pretty much beyond what I expected, already have org mates using it regularly. Canceled my -edited by developer- subscription and damn happy I did. “

Back Story: Approximately 18 Months ago, I was looking for touch screen peripheral software like this to help with Star Citizen controls while maintaining the immersion. I only found one product that came remotely close.

After investigating the monetization and network architecture for aforementioned product, I made comment on a forum about how I felt there were, in my opinion a lot of poor design choices from a usability, responsiveness and privacy perspective.

I received a typical “Forum Discussion” response to the effect of “well you go make one if you think you can do better, or stop complaining”

So I spent a year learning to program a cross platform language, engaged with the community and as a sole developer created what you see here. GameTouch Controller – By a Gamer for Gamers. This project was initially just going to be for me to use, but the community encouraged me to sell it to them.

I learned how to compile for each platform, the requirements for each of the App stores. I then engaged with some excellent Star Citizen Facebook communities, provided free beta access and they have, and continue to, aid in releasing this product for a small fee to the community.

I’m just a small independent developer, I don’t have a big marketing budget or investment capital, so community feedback and engagement are extremely important for me. Word of mouth is my only real “advertising”.

My guiding principles creating this project are: usability, no ads, no subscriptions, no additional accounts, no collection of user data, and responsiveness.

A common FAQ I receive is:

Q. Why would we pay the $3-$5 one time when we can use another product for free, what does your product do theirs does not ?.

A. Here are just some of the cases.

1. Because GameTouch Controller operates purely on your LAN and has no lag.

2. You don’t need to make another account with yet another company.

3. It never disconnects or requires authentication with an external source (you can use it just fine while disconnected from the internet)

4. You can use as many devices as you want per platform purchase for no additional cost. (connect 50 iPads if you like, still only costs you the one time $3-$5 depending on region. Get it on Android (Amazon or Google) for $3-$5 and connect another 50 Android devices. The Windows client is free and just uses an android/iOS device on your network to authenticate.

5. You get access to analogue inputs via Virtual Joysticks.

6. Nothing is free, there is a saying which I have found to hold true in almost all cases. If you aren’t buying the product YOU ARE THE PRODUCT.

Lets have a quick comparison of the GameTouch Controller privacy policy compared to snippets from a similar product you likely never read.

Windows 11 update was almost perfect

I have been watching and waiting for the update to win 11 mainly for the improved interface and gaming features improvements including the full direct x 12 experience.

With some similarities to Apple osx it provides a clean interface and in my opinion is an overdue improvement.

The first option presented to me was I would be invited to update in the future e.g via the windows update system.

I jumped the wait and downloaded the update from Microsoft and 40 minutes later Windows 11 was working.

I will add the laptop is relatively new and I had nothing of value on it.

So what’s it like, well after a small adjustment trying to look for search which is now a magnifying glass mostly other than the smart layout and new feature which rock such as Teams built in I can say I am happy and will test out some games later.

Everything has worked with only one small niggle which is the window.old folder the one used for upgrade which can be deleted is arguing about admin auth to delete it, all the usual tricks have failed so far so work in progress and considering the size of the update and past Microsoft failings during update that’s not bad.

Tpms and your PC is not compatible, were all for improved security however many of us have older systems and even AMD boards and chips, you may well find it says your system is in compatible, our recommend approach is to simply wait for Microsoft to address this issue through the normal upgrade and procedure built into Windows.

I do feel this has some elements of forcing consumers to buy new hardware certainly those less astute to upgrade and I should point out it is possible to install a secondary tmps module if your board is lacking however we feel that this is not something long standing Windows users should be pushed into and wonder if this is also industry making us all upgrade and not just for improved security e.g profit.

In the present the shortage of chips makes buying any new hardware expensive and often there is no stock, Microsoft should put more effort into educating the consumer and have some consideration for those who cannot afford new hardware and opt for other systems other than Intel based products.

There’s certainly sense in waiting for some in critical environments or with older hardware otherwise I can see no reason not to upgrade.

Well done Microsoft.

On further investigation, elevated command prompts and elevated actions the windows.old still would not delete, I looked in the properties of the drive and could not initially see the clean up old windows installation, on looking further I found the button clean up system which then shows the old windows folders and removed them.

I suspect this is to prevent the muppets out there complaining due to Microsoft oversite and ensuring they can go back to windows 10, good and bad in that.

There’s certainly sense in waiting for some in critical environments or with older hardware otherwise I can see no reason not to upgrade.

Well done Microsoft.

Desperados III

Desperados III

Deporados 3 was recently on sale on steam, as many know I am a fan of strategy games and thought i would give this a go.

This game is frankly quite good, its certainly not action packed but very well made, to say its like playing chess is not a correct comparison however some of the strategy is similar. The basis is try and fail try again and again and to be honest it works although i suspect when one works out the optimal solutions this may become mundane.

The story is quite nice and overall if on offer its worth a try and as its steam if you keep to the return rules re time you can try it for free.

Squid Game Netflix horror comedy or social commentary?

When one is bombarded by the adverts for a series sometimes you think your missing out but find the reality is somewhat different.

The series is well made and the acting quite good overall with the story progressing at most times quite rapidly.

You can see how the authors own debt and misery influenced the storyline but more worrying is the way that this is almost a documentary on social issues such as debt, death and the masses ridiculous facination with money and game shows.

It clearly shows the fragile nature of peoples lives there wish to be wealthy but little is said about the issues that arise from having wealth and the complications caused by introducing and managing money let alone the banking system trying to screw you over and the need to then bank offshore with all the issues that brings.

The grass is always greener on the other side comes to mind and the series highlights the misery of the life choices some are burdened often through the actions of others and poorly thought through social systems.

The rise of social media and the need for people to feel good about themselves to an extent of selfishness and greed is highlighted in this tv series but the issues go much deeper and it is no wonder people are hooked, its almost a was study of peoples lives and it is a sad statement of the human condition one that is being used rather than to educate instead it is being used to hook into peoples issues and in my opinion offers nothing other than reiterateimg the misery of society and all the problems human kind bring to the table.

If your looking for a misery fest to feed your struggling life with few constructive assistive comments on how to manage money and debt and want to feed into the social dystopia we find ourselves well many of you living in as you can’t turn it off or say no, good luck.
