CITY OF EYES

Subtitle: everyone can shut up and leave me alone now, it’s finally finished

City of Eyes is a Ravenloft adventure in 13 parts, taking place in the thoroughly horrible city of Elysium, a ghastly urban sprawl where it never stops raining and streetlamps flicker in winding streets filled with secrets.

– This adventure is for characters of 15th-20th level, with challenges designed to torment and bedevil those who perhaps feel they have nothing left to fear.
– Collect peculiar keys, gather strange etchings, and solve the mystery of Elysium before the clock ticks down to midnight and the adventure ends.
– Face off against the Spider, a treacherous CR30 Darklord spinning webs in the shadows.
– Batle against Unspeakable Denizens, or don’t. I’m not your boss. Do what you like.

– This adventure uses updated Stress and Fear rules from Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, including an evolved mechanic for The Sight, through which characters willing to embrace their fears learn to see things that others cannot
– New Dark Gifts specific to the City of Eyes
– Twisted artefacts, peculiar magics and regrettable creatures suited to the dank sidestreets of Elysium

FAQ.

Q. This Adventure is 3 years late.

A. Yes

Q. I bought a previous version of this adventure, do I get this one for free?

A. Honestly, no. I’ve rewritten it from the ground up, I paid for a bunch of art, and my time is real expensive. However if you are impoverished and can’t live without it, then if you can track me down on my increasingly insular social media then there’s a good chance I’ll throw you a copy out of a misguided sense of duty.

Q. There’s stuff in this version that I don’t like, or there’s stuff missing from the previous versions.

A. I made some changes. I apologize for them now, but it’s worth remembering that a good compromise makes no-one happy, and this adventure is an excellent compromise between my original vision and the years of experience I’ve gained since I first gave it a try.

Desert Monsters

Desert Monsters

Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

Introducing a set of monsters designed for desert encounters at varying challenge ratings!

3 brand new desert plants

Mobile Saguaro – CR 2

Saguaros are large cacti with branching arms, their entire surface covered in sharp spines. Their mobility gives them a competitive edge in the harsh desert environment. They are not typically aggressive but clash with plants and other creatures over water resources, and are very capable of defending themselves.

Organ Pipe Cactus – CR 5

Organ pipe cacti consist of large tubular stems covered in sharp spines. They are adapted to dry environments, using the blood of their prey to supplement their need for water. They are unable to move and so have developed the ability to attract creatures before using their spines to drain the blood of their targets.

Sentient Tumbleweed – CR 1/4

Sentient Tumbleweeds seek to disperse their seeds in the bodies of living creatures. Their seeds require a living host, so they do not aim to kill the hosts unless forced to do so.

2 Desert Yetis

Desert Yeti – CR 3

Yeti are hulking monstrosities that stalk the deserts in a ceaseless hunt for food. Their sand-coloured fur lets them move like ghosts against the rocky and sandy landscape. Yeti hunt in solitude or in small family groups.

Desert Abominable Yeti – CR 9

An abominable yeti is larger than a normal yeti, standing three times as tall as a human. It typically lives and hunts alone, though a pair of abominable yetis might live together long enough to raise young.

2 Sandstorm Monsters

Eldritch Sandstorm – CR 18

The Eldritch Sandstorm is a massive chaotic creature that lives in the desert, moving almost imperceptibly underground before bursting to the surface in search of prey. Above ground it confuses targets into heading into its whirling sands before ensnaring them in its tendrils and pulling them inexorably to its gaping mouth. Those who live in the desert desperately try to avoid being influenced by this great creature. Some groups have incapacitated a travelling companion who starts walking to towards the sandstorm’s centre, while others have left them to their tragic fate to avoid becoming prey themselves.

Sand Monster Swarm – CR 1/2

A medium swarm of tiny sand monsters that defend themselves in the desert environment they inhabit.
